Study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Atosiban in preterm labour in North Indian population

Background: Preterm birth occurs in 5-10% of all pregnancies, leading to an estimated 13 million preterm births worldwide. The goal managing spontaneous labour is minimise perinatal morbidity and mortality while preserving maternal health. Improved outcomes are associated with administration a full course corticosteroids aid fetal pulmonary maturation timely utero transfer specialist unit where the neonate can receive optimal care.Methods: A prospective, open label, non-comparative study was conducted at Ganesh Shankar vidhyarthi memorial Medical College, Kanpur department obstetrics gynaecology over period one year. After informed consent ethical clearance from institutional ethics committee, Kanpur, total 72 pregnant women were recruited for this study. Eligible patients received treatment atosiban as intravenous (I.V.) infusion 48 hrs three successive stages. Patients assessed 24 hrs, after treatment, followed by end assessment discharge (or on 7th day, whichever earlier). Results: Mean age 24±3.6 years gestational 32 ± 2.14 weeks. In successful delaying ≥ hours 23.50%, 70.50% 5.80% remained undelivered 7 days who did not require alternate tocolytic agent or retreatment which similar Dewan et al. 84.88% 74.15% days, effect health analysed terms APGAR score, out new borns, only 12 (16.66%) had score ≤ 60 (83.33%) > 7.Conclusion: present shows that safe effective drug labour. There no serious side effects.
